Arabo-Friesian
Sports Horses
Black Athletes
More recently they have competed successfully in Dressage. It was of great importance
in the breeding of Arabo-Friesians that the pure Friesians have always been rigorously
selected for beauty and movement, with the main emphasis placed on athletic ability.
Many buyers of Arabo-Friesians are former Warmblood owners who prefer to exchange
the hot temperament of so many Warmbloods for the fantastic gentle and cooperative
character and beauty of the Arabo-Friesians, with no loss in performance.
The breeding stallion, Yk Dark Danilo competed for 4 years as the leading horse in
a four-in-hand team among the world elite, in the world championships both indoors
and outdoors. In 2005 he was trained in the Dressage discipline and in that same
year he was Reserve Champion in a high class competition tournament of Dressage under
saddle in Belgium. This shows the adaptability of the remarkable Arabo-Friesian
horse breed. Yk Dark Danilo has sired 4 stallions, who are all homogenous sires.
His son Yk Dark Ynte is consistently placed high amongst the best Warmbloods in
Dressage classes, from the age of four.
Arabo-Friesian horses are bred specifically for performance and have proven to be
able to compete successfully against the best Warmblood horses. For eight consecutive
years a team of Arabo-Friesians won the Belgian four-in-hand championships and for
many years they were regularly placed among the Top Ten in International Carriage
Driving competitions, including World Championships.
These horses intelligence, cooperative character and ‘No Fear’ attitude makes them
suitable for any kind of advanced level of sport, especially Dressage, Driving and
Endurance competition.
